With the shortened season and all football teams making the playoffs this year, the Melcher-Dallas Football Program is looking forward to playing a postseason game. The Saints have not made the playoffs since 2014, when they posted a 9-2 mark and made the second round of the eight-man playoffs. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports having that guaranteed playoff game this season is important to his program.

Ferguson:
“They’ve been around sports long enough that when you get into a playoff system, and you get hot, you can go a long way. They realize that picking up that eighth game and a playoff game is something these kids have never experienced and I think they’re excited about it.”

The Saints will open up this season against Mormon Trail on August 28th. Tonight the Saints will scrimmage against rival Twin Cedars. Ferguson says it still hurts that the two teams are not playing in the regular season so they scheduled a scrimmage for tonight.
