Three area athletes made the preseason individual rankings from the Iowa Association of Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ for the upcoming fall season.

Pella has two boys runners in the preseason top 30, including two-time All-State runner Josiah Wittenberg, who is 6th on the list, and senior Tony Schmitz, who is 16th.

Bursting on the scene last fall as a freshman, Knoxville’s Norah Pearson is the 4th ranked girl in Class 3A.

The individual poll is largely based on the 2019 state track and field meet individual results by class, subtracting any graduated seniors from last years’ teams.

The 2020 high school cross country season kicks off next week across the state of Iowa.
