Lt. Governor Adam Gregg was at the Red Rock Dam for a brief tour of the new Hydroelectric Power Plant Friday morning.

Gregg and his family went through the new structure that will generate enough electricity for 18,000 homes covered by Missouri River Energy Services.

Gregg says he was impressed to learn about the investment made by Missouri River in the local communities through employees and materials used to construct the renewable energy source on the Des Moines River.

The Red Rock Hydroelectric Power Plant is expected to be operational sometime in September after initial testing, and be in full use sometime later this fall, with many of the recreation areas impacted by construction reopening along the Volksweg Trail and North Overlook Beach once everything is cleared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
