The Pella Christian volleyball team has a lot of hitting talent returning to the 2020 squad. Head Coach Joanna Settles says the experience in the outside and middle blocking positions will be key as the team brings on a new setter and libero.

Middle Blocker Sarah Gritters and Outside Hitter Avey Amelse will both look to make bigger leaps after starting during their sophomore seasons in 2019 — Gritters had 194 kills and Amelse tallied 183, while Sarah had 59 total blocks and Avey tallied a team high 71 service aces.

While it will be a new spot to her, Junior Amanda Harrill was a starting defensive specialist last season and will assume the libero position. Kya Chamberlin is the team’s new setter.

Pella Christian opens the 2020 volleyball season this Saturday at the Bondurant-Farrar tournament.
