The Lady Dutch volleyball team opened the 2020 season with a sweep of Ballard 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-16) at home Tuesday night.
No. 12 in 4A Pella dominated each of the three sets, with the Bombers pushing for late rallies in the first two to make each close, but the home team recovered and closed the door in each instance.
Van Voorst had 11 kills and no errors to lead the Lady Dutch attack. The defense was the biggest key, as Pella racked up 13 total blocks, including four total each from Jasmine Namminga and Ella Corbin and three from Courtney Paxton.
Pella is off until Saturday, when they travel to the Bondurant-Farrar tournament.
