Drivers throughout Marion County have likely noticed signs with the message “Don’t Give Up.” These have been placed by the Marion County Coalition for Suicide Prevention to lift spirits during a time when many people are in need. Stacy Haas with Marion County Public Health recognizes that there is a need for positivity, and they want to impact the community in that way.
“We want to have a positive impact on decreasing the number of suicides in the community. We know that not only is that suicide, but that mental health component. We know there’s a need in the community. We know that trying to foster that optimism can be tough. We know more than ever that right now that sometimes we just need a little positivity in our lives.”
Anyone with questions about mental health or anyone wanting to join the Marion County Coalition for Suicide Prevention is encouraged to contact Stacy Haas with Marion County Public Health.
