U.S. Senate candidate Theresa Greenfield was in the Lacona area Thursday to tour farms and visit with constituents. Greenfield tells KNIA/KRLS news one of her top priorities as a candidate is to help farmers as much as possible, particularly those affected by recent storm damage. She says that she wants to make conservation a commodity for farmers.
“We know what climate change looks like in Iowa, we know we need to confront it. Farmers know that. They know with the flooding, the drought, the high temperatures, the humidity. And the conservation element really focuses on making sure that we invest in conservation, make it a new commodity for our farmers and landowners. And it really makes sure that we’re doing everything that we can to invest in soil health, reducing carbon footprint. And when we invest in that kind of conservation, we’re also going to clean up our water. And so it’s a win, win, win and win for everyone.”
Greenfield’s visit to the Lacona area was part of her campaign’s statewide tour of derecho damage.
