A cold front brought much needed relief ahead of football action Friday evening, but with it came a brief severe thunderstorm.

The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team merged with the Jeromy Dingeman Concrete Football Friday Night Radio Preview Show for the first time after a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for the northeast half of Marion County and portions of Jasper and Mahaska County from 4:35 to 5:15 p.m.

Many from Pella and Pella Christian were caught up in brief downpours with gusty winds on their way to games in Urbandale and Grimes along Highway 163 between Pella and Prairie City. Several staff members, including the Football Friday Night crew, contributed to on-air coverage, as did Weatherology with updates. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on the air for any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for any portion of Marion and Warren Counties, with backup generators ensuring the coverage stays on if the power goes out.
