The first death has been reported due to COVID-19 in Marion County. According to Marion County Public Health, the death was an elderly individual, over 80 years old with pre-existing conditions. As of Tuesday, there were 124 active cases of COVID-19 in Marion County out of 478 total since the beginning of the outbreak. There were 294 new cases of the virus in the month of August, and 17 additional reported Monday. The positivity rate remains at 17.1% for the two week average.
