The 2020 football season opener couldn’t have been more dominating for a Pella Christian senior aiming to lift the Eagles back to the UNI Dome.

Luke Mulder made three key highlight plays behind the line of scrimmage in the Eagles 29-24 loss to Des Moines Christian. Two of those stops came on fourth down, and kept Pella Christian in a contest where they effectively gave up eight possessions.

Mulder’s name is etched at the top of the all-time sacks leaderboard at Pella Christian, breaking Bret Nieuwsma’s mark of 9.5 set from 2007-10, and owns the most sacks in a single game for the Eagles. He’s chasing down Caleb Morgan’s single season mark of seven set in 2011.

Pella Christian is back against No. 1 in Class 2A PCM this Friday. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. with a 7:30 kickoff on Eagle Lane, in a game that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
