This Saturday, Simpson College football fans can relive one of the most storied wins in program history, with the kickoff of the “KNIA Classic” broadcasts of Simpson football traveling back to week four of 2018.
With the then Iowa Conference defending champion nationally ranked Wartburg Knights hosting the Storm on their home field, it was a tall task for Simpson to overcome a squad they haven’t been able to beat in years. But after falling behind early, the Storm special teams made big play after big play, and gave them a chance to win. Down six with less than a minute to go, the Storm scored a touchdown, but missed the extra point to force overtime. After the Knights scored first in the extra period, Simpson got a clutch touchdown from Cam Bunting, then risked it all on a two-point conversion attempt to win it.
