Knoxville Hospital and Clinics and 21st Century Rehab are bringing back the Bumps & Bruises Clinic on Saturdays throughout the high school football season. Student-athletes from Knoxville and the surrounding area are welcome to come in for a free evaluation of any injuries that may have been sustained during practice or a game. Doctor of Physical Therapy Brooke Shelquist explains what to expect from this clinic.

“There’s an evaluation that we do, and then we do minimal treatments. And then typically, if we think there’s some exercises or interventions that would help, we’d give you a handout to go home with, and you can try it for yourself for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If we think you need any further testing, such as going to the doctor, we would recommend that. And we do have our acute care and clinic open starting at 8:00 that day.”

The clinic runs on Saturdays from 7:00-7:45 a.m. and is free of charge. To hear a complete interview with Shelquist, tune into today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
