Pleasantville and Melcher-Dallas hit the road Thursday for a cross country meet at Wayne.

Of their four total teams, only one of them placed in the tournament, being the Trojan girls’ team, who finished sixth out of seven placers. Their top finisher was Senior Hailee McCormick, who finished 17th out of 71 runners. Sophomore Ashlyn McConnell was next at 24th.

The Pleasantville Boys’ team didn’t receive a team score, but had two strong runners yet again. Junior Devon Luing finished in the top five for the second straight meet, while Jenkin Fulmer finished 12th in a meet with 91 runners and over a dozen teams. Fulmer finished sixth in the Early Bird at Knoxville, which only had five schools.

Melcher-Dallas didn’t place for either the boys or girls’ sides, but one runner stood out on top.

Senior J’Lyn Knutson, the only girl for M-D, won the meet with a top time of 22:08.20. She beat the second place finisher by 25 seconds.

For the M-D boys, there was only one runner as well. Freshman Mason DeJong finished 75th.

The Trojans and Saints next meet comes after a short turnaround this Tuesday at Central Decatur.
