The Knoxville Volleyball Squad will play in its first Saturday invitational of the season. The Panthers are coming off a win over Davis County on Tuesday after a two week break in the schedule. Knoxville will head to Bondurant-Farrar, which is a change to the original schedule. Knoxville typically this weekend heads to the Keokuk Invitational and makes it an overnight trip, but due to the current pandemic situation, Knoxville opted out of the Keokuk event and got in the event at Bondurant. Coach Mollie Keitges tells KRLS Sports, this is an opportunity to play some bigger schools that are ranked and possibly score seeding points as the regionals loom in another month.
Keitges:
“I think that we found something that’s just as challenging in Bondurant. We’ll play Bondurant, who’s ranked in 4A, Nevada, who’s ranked in 3A like us, and Winterset, who dropped out of the rankings but has one of the best setters in the state.”
The Panthers are a class 3A team this season, as Knoxville is the fourth largest school in the state in class 3A, according to the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union. Action gets underway on Saturday at 9:00am.
