Simpson College has announced that the Executive Director of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council (IFOIC) Randy Evans will serve as the speaker for the annual Constitution Day Lecture tomorrow.

Evans will engage in a conversation on transparency and democratic government with Brian Steffen, professor and chair of the department of multimedia communication. A retired journalist, Evans was a longtime writer and editor for the Des Moines Register. His work with the IFOIC focuses on promoting government accountability on issues of openness and transparency.

Government transparency during times of a global pandemic and racial unrest will be the focus of the discussion, which is co-sponsored by the John C. Culver Public Policy Center at Simpson College. The virtual event begins at 1 p.m. and will take place via the Zoom video-conferencing application. The event is free and open to the public. Visit simpson.zoom.us to register.
