The Pella Christian football team never got off the ground against Mount Ayr, falling 28-7 on the road in a district game heard live on 92.1 KRLS Friday.
The Eagles turned the ball over three times in Raiders’ territory, with the home team taking advantage of those takeaways, going up 14-0 at the half.
The lone highlight for the Eagles came on the opening drive of the second half, with a pair of 4th down conversions leading to the lone touchdown of the game, on a 4th and goal run by Cody Boender. Pella Christian had five total turnovers and missed a critical 4th down and short chance late in the 3rd quarter.
Boender finished with 128 yards rushing and 16 tackles on defense. The Eagles fall to 2-3 and 2-1 in the district, and face a tough road to Pleasantville next Friday.
