central-krls-classic-feature

We’re not going very far back in the archives for this Saturday’s “KRLS Classic” Central College football broadcast, but its recency won’t make it any less enjoyable.

We’ll flash back to November 9th, 2019 to re-live the ups and downs and wild finish of a 57-56 victory over Wartburg at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium – the highest scoring game in school history.

The Dutch surged to a surprising 49-14 lead nearly midway through the third quarter against the 7th-ranked Knights, only to see Wartburg score five unanswered touchdowns to force overtime.  They made it six in a row to start the extra frame, but Central finally stemmed the tide with a Hunter Robinson two-yard run.  He also found the end zone, barely, on the last play of the game.

That win vaulted Central into a first place tie in the American Rivers Conference, and they’d eventually win the league and make the playoffs for the first time since 2009, snapping a 10-year drought.

Join Trevor Castle and George Wares for all of the action this Saturday afternoon at 1:00 on 92.1 KRLS.
