The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report shows little change for conditions in south central Iowa. Abnormally dry conditions persist in Marion and most of Warren Counties. Moderate drought continues in northwest Warren, and in most of Polk and Jasper Counties as well.
A burst of cooler air will impact the region today. Daytime highs will be in the mid 60s early in the week and hover around 60 later in the week, kicking off an extended period of below average temperatures and continuing the dry spell since the rain in early September. Light showers are possible today, but it will be otherwise very dry throughout the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.
