The Tulip City volleyball teams find themselves needing wins, but for different reasons as they head into tournament action this weekend.

The Eagles’ girls have found themselves in the midst of an impressive mid-season surge — Pella Christian has won five in a row and have 10 wins in their last 12 matches, including victories over previously ranked in 3A Des Moines Christian, No. 15 in 3A Knoxville, and No. 13 in 4A Bondurant-Farrar. The 13-7 Eagles will look to add additional victories to their resume ahead of playoff seeding time this Saturday in Greene County.

Pella’s girls are trying to find traction after a rough stretch, falling in four of their past seven matches. Two of those have come against ranked teams in five sets — including this past Tuesday against No. 12 in 4A DCG. Pella heads to the Des Moines Christian tournament this Saturday.
