Idaho Drive has been reopened and previously evacuated residents are able to return to their homes. Responding agencies would like to thank the Pella Hy-Vee for providing food and water. No injuries were reported on scene.


BREAKING UPDATE: According to the Marion County Emergency Management Department, Idaho Drive will be closed from T-15 to Central College in Pella at 2 p.m. today due to the LP truck crash, at least until 4 p.m. The closure could take longer, as this is a precautionary measure as crews attempt to move the truck from the spot it crashed at.

Those who wish to leave Bos Landen need to exit to the west of the development on T-15. Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS for updates.

From the City of Pella:

“Pella residents are being asked to avoid the area of 210th Place and Idaho Drive due to an accident involving a propane spill.

Those residing in the Bos Landen neighborhood are being asked to evacuate their homes until further notice.

Idaho Drive from T-15 to Central College will be closed to through traffic starting at 2:00 p.m. until further notice.

Minimal power outages near the intersection of 210th Place and Hawthorne Drive may be experienced as a result of necessary electric repairs.”


A Two Rivers Cooperative LP truck rolled off of 210th Place near Idaho Drive in Pella Monday morning.

Pella Fire, Police, and Ambulance, Marion County Emergency Management, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and City of Pella electric crews all responded. Knoxville Fire and Rescue also came to assist with evacuation.

The truck left the road heading northbound, left the roadway, and rolled, coming to a rest just past the driveway at 972 210th at around 11 a.m.

The driver was able to escape the vehicle, and was not transported by ambulance from the scene.

210th Place is reduced to one lane as crews work to move the truck.
