The City of Indianola is continuing a project to remove Ash trees that have been affected by the Emerald Ash Borer, which leads to the death of the tree and could potentially cause damage to property. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News this is a years long project, and the Indianola City Council approved continued funding of the next steps.
“Unfortunately what we have seen is the number of dead or dying Ash trees in city parkways and in city parks have increased significantly. So the council approved the project with two companies that will work on the parkways and parks, but also on city-owned trails to take down the trees.”
Waller also said many residents will notice trees that are designated as Ash trees will have a green ribbon tied around the trunk.
