The Melcher-Dallas Volleyball Squad brought back the first place trophy from the Wayne Invitational on Saturday. The Saints swept through the teams going 3-0 on the day, defeating Wayne in two sets 22-20 and 21-17. Grace Overgaard had eight kills and Kynser Reed picked up eight digs. In match two, the Saints disposed of Mormon Trail two sets 21-16 and 21-12. Kacey Enfield went 9/10 serving and had nine digs. That set up a rematch for the title against the host Falcons, and the Saints repeated their feat from earlier in the day, sweeping Wayne in two sets 21-16 and 21-14. Reed and Overgaard led the net attacks with six kills each and Emma Heaberlin was perfect in seven serves. Coach Jesyka Nolte told KNIA Sports it was a great day for her team and she liked the way they played in all of the matches. The Saints will now embark on the Bluegrass Conference Tournament on Tuesday as they will host a pool. Melcher-Dallas will take on Diagonal and Mormon Trail with the winner advancing to the conference finals at Twin Cedars on Thursday.
