The Indianola School Board approved a change in the district’s face mask policy at their meeting Monday evening, requiring face masks for all students and staff in all schools grades K-12, after previously only requiring face coverings for students and staff in grades 6-12. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the previous guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health stated that if a student or staff member had been in close contact with a positive test, it didn’t matter if they were wearing a mask or not they would have to be quarantined. The new guidance states that if all students and staff in the area were wearing masks, they would not need to miss any school. The new mask policy will go into effect November 2nd.
