The Iowa High School Music Association held its virtual State Marching Band festival Saturday.

For the 44th consecutive year, the Pella Marching Dutch earned a Division I “Superior” rating. For the first time ever, Pella Christian’s Marching Band participated in the IHSMA contest, and also earned a Division I score in Class 2A.

Schools submitted videos from previous performances to a panel of judges, who reviewed the show on Saturday as they would at a typical festival site. This past weekend was the official end of the 2020 high school marching band season.

Pella wrapped up with a final competitive performance at the West Marshall Marching Invitational on Saturday, placing first in Class 3A at the event. The Marching Dutch will have one final performance at this week’s Pella postseason football game against Winterset, which can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
