The Knoxville Volleyball Squad made sure that nothing was left of the chance as the Panthers ushered Centerville to the class three-A volleyball sidelines last night in a 25-9, 25-15, and 25-4 victory in the regional semi-final. With the exception of the second set where Knoxville started off with a few hitting and serving errors, the night was largely dominated by the Panthers utilizing strong serving and solid play at the net. Senior players Tara Uitermarkt and Marley McKay told KRLS Sports the intensity and hard work they have put in over the season has allowed them to reach the doorstep of the state tournament.
Tara:
“I think we had a lot of intensity and focus tonight. We talk a lot about having focused energy, lots of talking and if we can do that then we can get the other team down and it’s an advantage to us.”
Marley:
“Just the energy we bring everyday, and every practice, it’s like the game to go to state and you know the hard work we put in is just worth it.”
McKay had 28 assists and was 26/27 serving with four aces while Uitermarkt had five kills and three blocks. Brittany Bacorn and Reilly Finarty had ten kills to pace the Panthers and Maggie Wilkins came up with 14 digs. Knoxville is now 27-7 and will take on number nine ranked Red Oak Tuesday night at a site to be determined.
