The City of Knoxville is holding a Rental Inspection Program Landlord meeting Tuesday. The purpose of these meetings is to inform landlords of the administrative policies of the program, to discuss common violations identified during the inspections, and to clarify any questions about the program. City Manager Aaron Adams says that while landlords are not required to attend, it is strongly recommended.
“Landlords are not required to attend, but definitely strongly encouraged to learn more about that. We think the timing is good now, so that landlords can be making changes and potential upgrades and repairs if they need to before the actual program starts. We anticipate that starting July 1st, 2021, so we’re trying to give a bit of a lead time here, to give landlords a chance to get on top of any changes and upgrades they might need to make.”
The most significant change to the program is that now landlords only have to file property registrations and fees at the time of inspection. The meeting is Tuesday, October 27th at 6:00 p.m. at the Knoxville library. Another meeting will be held November 17th. More information on the program is available here.
