U.S. Senate candidate Theresa Greenfield visited a Marion County farm near Lacona Friday as part of her “Jobs That Need to Get Done” tour. She says that to help farmers, she wants to make conservation a commodity.

“One of the things I want to invest in is our future, and that includes conservation. And I see so much opportunity with all of our farmers, whether they have large commercial or small operations. Investing in entrepreneurship, investing in their ingenuity, independence, hard work, their desire to earn a profit. I want to make sure we also have conservation as a new commodity. We as taxpayers are investing in that conservation, and we help sequester carbon, and farmers are getting paid for doing that work for all of us.”

Greenfield is a Democratic running against incumbent Republican Joni Ernst.
