The Pella City Council held their regular meeting Monday due to today’s general election.

Council approved and adopted a resolution for a 28E Agreement amendment with Marion County to reduce the City of Pella’s extraterritorial zoning review area from two miles to one mile outside of the corporate limits. Two public hearings were held for ordinances that would amend the official zoning map and various sections of the zoning code to accommodate the changes. City staff believes this would simplify administration of zoning laws for both the city and county, and allow the Pella City Council to focus on likely areas to develop in the future.

Amendments to the Lely and South Main development tax increment financing ordinances were also approved.

The council also approved the certified list of candidates for the new Pella Police Department Captain position, with all four lieutenants on staff being considered, including:
