For the final installment of our “KRLS Classic” Central College football broadcast series this fall, we go back to the most recent game played at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella. It’s the biggest comeback in program history, a 38-37 overtime victory over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh from November 23rd, 2019.
Oh, you forgot about that one? Let’s freshen your memory. The Titans seemingly broke Central’s back with a strip sack scoop-and-score touchdown on the final play of the first half to take a commanding 31-7 lead. But the Dutch chipped away, eventually cutting the deficit to 31-24 and getting the ball back for one last chance to tie it up.
Knaack caught another touchdown in overtime, his third of the game. Oshkosh answered with a touchdown pass on fourth-and-goal from the 14, then chose to go for two. Central’s Jordy Borman got a fingertip on the would-be-winner, preserving the first playoff victory for the Dutch in 12 years.
Trevor Castle and George Wares were in the booth, with Don DeWaard adding his insight from the Central sideline. Tune in this Saturday afternoon at 1:00 to relive all the action on 92.1 KRLS.
