The Indianola girls basketball team starts its 2020 campaign today on the road at Des Moines Christian. The Indians are coming off of a 16-win campaign last year, and return all but two of their rotation players, including leading scorers Lauren Blake, Kendall Clatt, and Mara Bishop. Indians head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports in addition to those three returners, the Indians are also expecting big things out of their sophomores who will receive more time on the varsity court this year.

“Our sophomore class is small but mighty. Emily Naughton had a tremendous year last year and looks stronger already in the first couple weeks of this season, while Brynn Ortlund came into the Newton game and the Grinnell game at the end of the season last year and really showed us some things and is doing a great job this fall.”

The Lions are coming off of a 22-3 season, and also return their top two scorers.The game begins at 7:30pm.
