Marion County Extension and Outreach is hosting a “Radon in the Home” workshop on Tuesday, December 1st. Radon is an invisible and odorless naturally occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer. Topics of discussion will include testing and mitigation strategies. Director Andy Kraber says that this is a topic that Marion County residents need to be aware of.
“Here in Marion County, it is known that we have a higher level of radon. We will be having a workshop on December 1st. With the governor’s restrictions, we are restricted to 15 people. So the first 15 people to give us a call, or you can sign up on our website.”
A short-term radon test kit will be given to each household in attendance. The workshop is December 1st from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Marion County Extension and Outreach Center in Knoxville.
