The Melcher-Dallas boys basketball team opens their season this upcoming Tuesday, as they go toe-to-toe with fellow Marion County foe Pleasantville. These two teams have played every year for the last seven years.

Melcher-Dallas will be looking to start their season on a high note as they look to take a step forward with a senior-heavy roster led by Steven and Ryan Krpan, both of who averaged more than 13 points per game last winter. The twins also combined to average more than 14 rebounds per game.

Another player that is expected to take on a bigger role is Knoxville transfer Lane VanderLinden, who averaged 13 points and seven rebounds a game in ten games last year for the Saints. He also shot 48% from the field and 30.4% from three-point range. VanderLinden had three 20-point games in 2019-20, including 29 in a ten-point win over Colfax-Mingo.

The game will be part two of a doubleheader on Tuesday with the boys game tipping off approximately 20 minutes after the girls game. You can hear both games live on kniakrls.com on the KNIA3 stream.
