One half of the doubleheader tonight is postponed due to COVID-19 within the Melcher-Dallas’ girls basketball team. The boys’ team is still scheduled to play tonight, with tip-off beginning at 7:30 P.M.

Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports they will continue to prepare for what will be a tough matchup against Southeast Warren. Still, Goff was very impressed with her team’s performance at Ankeny Christian Friday, including a 23-point, 19-rebound performance from Hailey Hoch.

The Saints boys, meanwhile, will have their home Bluegrass Conference opener against Lamoni. They will be looking for their first win of the season after dropping their first two games to Pleasantville and Ankeny Christian, where they have given up 73.5 points per game. Coach Jim Wells tells KNIA Sports that even though his team is struggling, he has been impressed with his team forcing turnovers and coming up with steals.

Coach Wells also says that they need to keep the turnovers down and shoot better from three-point range, as they have shot just four-for-27 from beyond the arc to start the season. The Saints boys game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 P.M. at Melcher-Dallas High School.
