The Indianola City Council approved an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation at their meeting Monday evening, for the reimbursement of trees on Highway 92. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News several years ago the Iowa DOT did work along Highway 92 that required the removal of trees, which the city will now replace.

“Our staff in Parks and Rec were working closely with IDOT, and we were able to get an agreement in place where IDOT will reimburse the city for the trees that will be replaced. We have a good number of trees that will go in between Y Street and the Indianola Activity Center. So that will help that corridor, they will provide some vegetation and shade for those that are enjoying the walking trail, and this will all be funded through a grant from the state so we are excited for that and to be able to plant some more trees.”
