For the first time in 11 days, the Norwalk basketball teams will play on their home court this evening in non-conference action. The Warriors play host to Council Bluffs Lewis Central in what promises to be a crucial tuneup as winter break approaches.
In the girls game, Norwalk will look to continue their winning ways at home, which is the only place they’ve won this year. The Warriors will try to shake off a two-game skid in the process, with tough road losses in the last week to Winterset and Pella. Head Coach Jill Martin says that the Titans always provide solid competition, and is looking forward to the challenge her team will face.
Lewis Central is the reigning Class 4A runner-up, and is 2-0 on the young season. Four players average double figure scoring.
Meanwhile in the boys game, Norwalk will try to shake off a frustrating road loss to Pella on Friday, a game in which the Warriors trailed from wire to wire. Lewis Central enters 2-1, and is coming off their first loss of the season in a crosstown matchup against St. Albert on Friday. Head Coach Chris Larson expects a tough battle, and enjoys facing teams of Lewis Central’s caliber.
Tonight’s doubleheader will air live on 94.3 KNIA with Jon Mohwinkle and Greg Brunner calling the action. Pregame coverage starts at 4:45, with the opening tipoff from Norwalk High School at 5:00.
