According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, Warren County now has 3,403 cases of COVID-19 to affect the county since the beginning of the pandemic, a growth of 117 since the December 14th update.
Active cases have fallen below the 1,000 mark for the first time since mid-November, with 939 cases. The Iowa Department of Public Health also shows two outbreaks in long-term care facilities in the county, and 26 deaths from the virus, 12 of which have come in December.
Warren County is the 17th most affected county in the state, however when adjusted for population percentage the county has the 80th highest numbers out of Iowa’s 99 counties.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has set a 15% positive test rate as a metric that is a factor in indicating schools should move to remote learning. As of Monday, Warren County is over the threshold at 15.7%, while Marion County is at 17%. There are 40 counties in Iowa currently over the threshold.
