Indianola Basketball Faces Warren County Rival Carlisle

The Indianola basketball squads will stay in Warren County but play outside the Little Hawkeye Conference tonight on the road at Carlisle. The Indians girls are winners of five in a row after a season opening loss, averaging over 60 points per game in the streak, and face a Wildcats squad that hasn’t put up more than 30 points in their last three contests. The Indians boys have faced a string of tough competition to start the season, and will take on a Carlisle squad that is looking to end a three-game skid. Indians head coach Brett Watson tells KNIA Sports his three sophomores that are seeing their first varsity minutes, Charlie Wilmott, Casey Glascock, and Dakota Heimbaugh, are getting better and better each game.

“It’s baptism by fire. They have no choice, they are out there, and there are some growing pains but those three kids work extremely hard not only in the games but in practice and the weight room. They are going to get better and keep growing, but it’s a process and it’s going to take time, but we need those guys because they have a lot of basketball skills.”

The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45pm.
