The Indianola City Council directed City Attorney Doug Fulton to petition the court for the title to an abandoned property at 1009 E Salem Ave. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News state code allows the city to go through this process, in order for the city to find a new owner.

“Right now the city is maintaining the property. If we can take title to it, what we do is work with our realtor to get that building sold, renovated, and livable to have the property owners maintain it instead of the city.”

Waller also said this has been requested by nearby residents for some time, and will be a benefit to the city once it reenters the city tax rolls.
