A showdown for first place in the South Central Conference girls race is tonight as Knoxville hosts Centerville in the return from break for the Panthers. Knoxville has been off for the last 21 days, which is the longest the Panthers have been out of action due to a shut down before the break due to COVID-19 concerns. The girls are unbeaten in six games and stand 3-0 alone on top of the conference as Centerville is 2-0 in conference play. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports this may be the best Centerville team they have played in a while and they want to get a jump on the conference race.
Uitermarkt:
“We’re both sitting at the top of the conference, and I think most people picked either us or Centerville and Coach Belloma says that it’s the best team they’ve ever had down there. This game is huge in terms of the conference and we want to get ourselves in the driver’s seat per say.”
The Knoxville boys are also looking to stay undefeated. The Panthers are 4-0 and also had to pause in December for COVID-19 concerns. Knoxville is also 3-0 in conference play. You can hear the action on 95.3 KNIA tonight beginning with the pregame at 6:15.
