melcher-dallas-5

After a rough start to 2020-21, Melcher-Dallas’ girls basketball team have bounced back from losing their first two games and a COVID-19 outbreak to roll off three consecutive Bluegrass Conference wins.

Those victories include upsetting Murray, who was 5-0 in conference play heading into Monday’s game. A combination of stellar defense and maximum effort has the Saints riding high to start 2021.

Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports that it felt great to upset one of the better teams in the conference.

“It felt great. Any win in the conference is great, but getting a win against one of the top three or four teams on their home court is always great. It is definitely a confidence booster, it shows what we can do when we are all playing together and we are playing hard.”

Goff also states that her team’s defense is the team’s strong suit, after allowing just 28 points a game through the previous three games.

Melcher-Dallas will be back in action Tuesday with a rematch against Murray as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 PM.
