Vermeer Corporation kicked off celebrating the 50th anniversary of a signature invention Thursday. Director of Forage Solutions Mindi Vanden Bosch says a parade of sorts was held over the lunch hour from the Vermeer mile through the City of Pella of 50 round balers on semis, to mark five decades since the product was first developed by Gary Vermeer. Vanden Bosch says Vermeer was largely an industrial based supplier over its first 23 years until the round baler was popularized for agricultural purposes — and innovations of the technology continue today.
