The Iowa Legislature is now in session, and will be taking steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. State Representative Jon Thorup of Knoxville tells KNIA/KRLS News committee meetings will not be held in their typical fashion.

“Committee meetings, I believe are not going to have a peanut gallery, I don’t believe there will be a lot of people in the meetings. For the purposes of transparency, anyone that’s interested in that particular committee meeting is going to be able to watch it online, or if they’re in the Capitol, there are going to be several monitors. There will be some changes like that.”

Thorup serves on the Public Safety, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Transportation committees. He was reelected to serve a second term in District 28, encompassing much of Marion County. Hear more from Thorup about the legislative session here.
