Growth has been a large focus for the Indianola City Council and City of Indianola staff over the last several years, and home building has seen a significant jump in the past four years compared to earlier in the decade. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News home building has gone up by around 500% compared to the early 2010’s.
“When we looked at this current four-year period compared to the previous, when you go back to 2012 to 2016 there were 77 lots created. From 2016 to current times, there were 373 lots created. That is outstanding for our area.”
Waller also said the home building growth is a testament to the hard work of city staff because Indianola is not directly within the urban ring to catch the indirect growth from Des Moines.
