The long awaited return of Sabers basketball was bittersweet as Twin Cedars split their opponents Ankeny Christian on Saturday. The Sabers girls won 51-45 and the boys fell 94-23.
Brooke Roby had five three pointers on her way to 29 points and six steals. Sabers Girls’ Head Coach Trent Verwers was happy to see his squad reach the 50 mark, but was extra glad of his press defense forcing over 20 turnovers despite a little bit of rust.
Fourteen of the Twin Cedars boys 23 points came courtesy of Kade Dunkin. Head Coach Blake McWilliams feels that the long break from game action showed as they had little response for ACA.
The next games for the Sabers are Monday at Diagonal starting at 6:00.
