Pleasantville’s basketball teams will be back in action Monday night for a home West Central Conference Doubleheader against Interstate-35.
The Trojans girls are coming into this game with a 5-6 record, including winning their last game last Saturday at home against Albia. Last year when Pleasantville played I-35, they were swept by the Roadrunners, both losses by five points or less. Coach Jeff Cook tells KNIA Sports that his team will have revenge on their mind.
“That was a team that we got beat by twice last year. I felt like both times we were out-physicaled. We talked about that as a team and the fact that they like to play very physically, so we are going to have to adapt to that. It’s a game that we’d like to win.”
Pleasantville’s boys will be looking to keep their hot shooting from three-point range going after knocking down 13 threes last Monday at Ogden, including seven from Sophomore Taylon Mount. The win over Ogden broke a four-game losing streak for the Trojans. Pleasantville played I-35 last year three times, winning all three. Coach Tom Wilkins tells KNIA Sports that it is important that they don’t overlook the Roadrunners.
“I noticed when I was checking scores that Van Meter beat I-35 by one point. Van Meter beat us by 30 so there is something there that I-35 has.”
The doubleheader will be at Pleasantville High School, with the girls’ game scheduled to tip-off at 6:15 PM Monday night. The doubleheader will be broadcast on the KNIA3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch on the call.
