Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller gave his 2020 end of year report at last night’s city council meeting. As part of the report, he highlighted the areas in which the department was able to expand its services in response to the challenges of 2020. He says that the nationwide heightened awareness of social injustice issues inspired the department to take steps to make sure the Knoxville police officers and the public are aware of these issues.
“It made us direct our attention to other areas of law enforcement, to take stock in what we were doing and what we could do in Knoxville to keep everyone safe and educate our officers. And to educate the public on why we do what we do. So there was a lot that went into that.”
Included in the report were stats and a recap of events in 2020. Hear more from Chief Fuller on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
