The Norwalk boys basketball team picked up its second win in as many nights Tuesday when they played host to Grinnell in a makeup game, defeating the Tigers 56-38, as aired on 94.3 KNIA. The Warriors built up a 17-10 lead after the first quarter, but Grinnell chipped away at the margin for much of the second quarter, and got to within 24-21 at the half.
Norwalk was able to build upon the low-scoring first half and held Grinnell to just five third quarter points. The fourth quarter featured the Warriors putting the game away, leaving no doubt. Head Coach Chris Larson credits his teams maturity in maintaining poise after a rocky second quarter.
Cole Tunender led the way with 18 points, in what was a bounce-back performance after a series of lackluster games for the senior. Norwalk improves to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. They’ll return to action Friday in their first rematch of the season, a road trip to Pella Christian.
