Knoxville Interim City Manager Heather Ussery is now three weeks into her new role. She’s serving in the position while the city council conducts its search for a replacement for Aaron Adams, who departed earlier this month. She says it’s an exciting time to be involved in city affairs as an administrator.
“It’s going pretty well. I worked closely with the previous city manager, Aaron, for the past several years as the assistant. It’s been a smooth transition, but also a lot of learning in the last three weeks, but I’m settling in and figuring it all out as I go. I’m excited to be involved in a lot of the meetings about the VA Campus. This will be my first time presenting the budget. I’m heavily involved in the back end usually, but to actually present the budget in the next couple weeks will be exciting.”
As part of the city council’s search, Ussery will be considered as a full-time replacement. Budget presentations will take place at the next Knoxville City Council meeting on Monday, February 1st.
