***THIS DOUBLEHEADER HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO WINTER WEATHER***

After a busy week of action last week, the Norwalk basketball teams return to the hardwood tonight. The Warriors will get their first opportunity to avenge a sweep, as Pella makes the visit to Norwalk for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader.

The Norwalk girls are surging, having won seven of their last eight games. The Warriors enter coming off a win over a ranked Indianola team on the road Saturday, and are currently third in the conference standings. Senior Bren Moritz says that the key to continuing the win streak is maintaining the same level of intensity and focus.

Pella has won five of the last six against Norwalk, including a 58-46 home win in December. The Dutch have lost four straight conference games, with the most recent loss coming against Indianola, the team Norwalk just beat.

Meanwhile in the boys game, the Warriors have a chance for a signature victory against the #2 Dutch. Norwalk was resilient in Saturday’s comeback win over Indianola after a tough loss to Pella Christian the night before. Head Coach Chris Larson says his team needs to be ready for another battle in conference play.

It’s been a storied series, with the teams splitting the last six meetings. Earlier this season, the Dutch picked up a 57-40 win at home, and recently lost for the first time this season. Norwalk will try to return the favor and remain in the top half of the standings.

Tonight’s doubleheader will air live on 92.1 KRLS with Jon Mohwinkle and Steve Wermerskirchen calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 p.m., with the opening tipoff from Norwalk High School at 6:15.
