melcher-dallas-5

Melcher-Dallas’ basketball teams will be back in action for Bluegrass Conference Tournament Quarterfinal action. The Saints’ boys will be at Moravia taking on Lamoni while the Saints’ girls will play at home against Seymour.

The Saints’ boys will match up with Lamoni for the second time this season, their first matchup ending in a 70-55 victory. Melcher-Dallas is also coming off a first-round tournament victory over Moulton-Udell, 62-18. The Saints will look to sweep Lamoni and move on to the conference semifinals.

The Saints’ girls will also match up with a team for the second time as they battle Seymour at home. The last time Melcher-Dallas played against Seymour, they allowed the fewest points in a game this season, winning 42-22. The Saints allowed Seymour to make just three shots from the field in the win. Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports that she is impressed with her team continuing to take steps forward.

“They really haven’t taken a step back. That’s what I was afraid of when we had the two weeks off for COVID. Then we were able to come back for a little while then we had Christmas and the Holiday break. I was worried about coming back on January 4th, back for our first game. I didn’t know how they would respond, how they would come out, all of that stuff that coaches think about when an unexpected break comes up.”

The Saints’ boys will play at Moravia, with the game tipping off at 6:00 PM. Melcher-Dallas’ girls will play at home with the game tipping off at 7:30 PM.
